Lakota Nation War Bonnet
The Lakota Nation War Bonnet is made using quality imitation eagle feathers which have been individually decorated with triangle spots and tediously hand painted down the vein of each feather.
Each feather is then tipped with black and red feather fluffs along with genuine horse hair. Horse hair is used in many items by Native Americans as it is considered to bring good luck.
The feathers bottoms are wrapped in vivid red wraps which are then hand sewn onto a felt skull cap which is covered in matching fluffs. A single decorated honor feather is positioned in the middle of the skull cap in the back of the bonnet.
A thick row of white, red and black feather fluffs are aligned on top of the wraps. The beaded brow band and matching beaded rosettes are sewn by hand.
Beading colors and designs will vary.
Strips of bright white rabbit fur wrapped in matching wraps are used for drops on either side of the brow band to imitate ermine skins. This majestic war bonnet inspired by the proud Lakota people and nation.
